Hello Readers!
I had a few slots open this summer for Guest Cook and thought I’d take one of them. I am Maggie Goebel the creator of this blog Freezer Meals For Us. First of all, I want to thank my previous guest cooks- Jackie, Christy, and Kara. Each of you have added a new dimension to this blog and I thank you so much for that! I have already been prepping some of your dishes with some great results! As I “meet” other like minded ladies (and a few men) who know the benefits of freezer cooking I get excited seeing how it has transformed your families mealtime. You have more time to spend with your loved ones and friends because you aren’t stuck in a kitchen, you are saving money, you don’t stress about what’s for dinner, and there are less dirty dishes so, of course, you feel more relaxed before and AFTER dinner.
I hadn’t heard of Freezer Cooking until 2005. Our church had a special evening of Freezer Meal instruction taught by some ladies who had been doing it for many years. I was FASCINATED! I knew that night that I wanted to be a part of such a group. As I looked around for a group to join I found that most were full and had a waiting list. I waited. And I waited. But no chance to join any of them. In early 2007, I finally started a small group of 4 ladies. It lasted about a year, but as a few of them experienced major life changes they decided to take a break from the group. I started another group and that lasted a few years as well, but members came and went. Many of the group members have been military moms and so it was a transient group. Finally in 2010 our current group became established and has been swapping for a few years now. Just like my guest cooks have done I will share some of what I have learned with you each week as well as a favorite (and unpublished…until now) recipe. And since I have asked my previous cook’s to share a photo of themselves…. and I can’t find a recent one that I like…. I will share with you a photo of me taken in 1991 when I was in High School on a Future Homemakers of America National Convention in Washington D.C.
(that was me in my awesome tomato red FHA jacket with that huge hair, standing next to a still fairly unknown Nevada senator by the name of Harry Reid….. now the Senate Majority Leader)
